Our Coachella 2018 Vlog

April 30, 2018

In the days and weeks leading up to Coachella, I made no secret about the fact that I was positively bursting with excitement over the prospect of returning to my favorite music festival.  I listened to my Coachella playlists on repeat; I planned my looks for each day of the festival prior to ever leaving Los Angeles; I had even mapped a good portion of how I wanted this Coachella 2018 vlog to look in advance.  I was PREPARED!  What is that saying about the best laid plans?  Oh yes, they will go awry and, friends, awry they went.

I ultimately ended up attending 35% of the music festival before my right hip decided it had enough and gave out.  This happened shortly over an hour before Beyoncé took the stage on the second night of the festival.  You know, Beyoncé, one of the acts I was most looking forward to seeing!  In addition to dealing with a great deal of pain I was, understandably, disappointed on a massive scale.  You see, not only had I desperately wanted to see Beyoncé’s epic performance live I had, more than anything, wanted to spend the three-day festival having incredible experiences with some of my closest friends prior to our upcoming move out of state.

I was CRUSHED.  If I am being completely honest, I genuinely considered not releasing this vlog because I thought it would be too painful to relive the memories and try to fill in the gaps that I missed.  But, as my husband and I began sifting through footage, an incredible thing happened.  Those very friends I was so disappointed to not spend time with began sending their Coachella footage, and lots of it.  I got Beyoncé’s performance guys, and I got ALL of it!  Following Beyoncé, Chromeo was sent to us, then Odesza, then Eminem and, little by little, this vlog began to take shape.  Our Coachella 2018 vlog may not have ended up quite as planned but, with a little help from my friends, it turned out to be even more meaningful than anticipated.

The Six Best Bars in New Orleans (Because Five Just Wasn’t Enough)

April 26, 2018

I know what you are thinking, bars and New Orleans go hand in hand, right?  Well, yes, they are, historically, a match made in heaven.  After all, New Orleans grew out of a disease-infested swamp originally populated almost solely by criminals and prostitutes.  It should therefore come as no surprise that bars are a deep-rooted part of the city’s culture.

What does come as a surprise, at least to me, is how established and impressive of a craft cocktail scene the city has in our modern day.  Let’s just say that you don’t want to travel to Crescent City without this guide to the six best bars in New Orleans by your side.

New Orleans is overflowing with history, beauty, and, yes, alcohol, with NOLA's historic and modern bars working hand in hand to carve out the city's decidedly unique cocktail scene.  Carry this guide to the six best bars in New Orleans with you on your next trip to the city to explore everything that this town offers.

A Dreamy Charleston Beach House

April 23, 2018

Today’s relaxed and whimsical beach house comes to us all the way from Charleston, South Carolina.  My love for Charleston has been burning strong since I graduated high school and almost moved to the city to attend College of Charleston sight unseen.  Would that have been my wisest life choice?  Perhaps not, but can you really blame me for almost making the move?  The city is positively teeming with history, delicious food, and picture perfect rainbow colored buildings.  What’s not to love?

Charleston based designer Cortney Bishop seems to feel much the same about her fair city as I do.  Bishop’s background in travel, art, fashion, and music, eventually led her to interior design, a career that is clearly her calling.  All across Charleston (and the world, for that matter), she seamlessly blends global influences with relaxed, beachy vibes which you know is a forever favorite style of mine.  Suffice it to say, if I had a giant Charleston beach house this is ABSOLUTELY what it would look like.

Today's relaxed and whimsical home tour comes to us all the way from Charleston, South Carolina. This Charleston beach house is positively teeming with beachy vibes and global, eclectic touches, making it the perfect seaside escape.

Minimalist Bohemian Decor

April 19, 2018

It is no secret that my life is a bit up in the air right now.  I think that is why now, more than ever, I am craving simple, relaxed influences, especially in my home.  Enter minimalist bohemian decor, the name that I assigned to this unique blend of casual, streamlined sophistication.

Minimalist bohemian decor, to me, is in equal part influenced by global travels and minimalism, a combination that you all know is right up my alley.  It is a gathered yet deliberate style that marries classic mid-century influences with meaningful finds curated over the years.  It is, by very definition, a mash-up of styles that looks different to everyone and it is heavily guiding the design choices I am making in our future home.  While I can not yet reveal a sneak peek of our new home itself since we do not close for another few weeks, I can start to share the influences I have been gathering that are guiding my upcoming design choices.  And so, without further ado, I give you minimalist bohemian decor.
