Musings on Momentum and Better Homes & Gardens!

March 7, 2017

I am overjoyed to share some very exciting news with you all today. A do-it-yourself project that I completed last year, my DIY Anthropologie Mirrors, has been featured in a roundup of Anthropologie-inspired DIYs by Better Homes & Gardens!

As a longtime fan of Better Homes & Gardens, being included in this group of fantastic projects is nothing short of a dream. Growing up I used to pour over my mother’s copies of the magazine, visualizing and planning my future home. In fact, I still have multiple bound notebooks worth of inspiration from BHG that I collected long before Pinterest came into existence in my childhood bedroom. To now be even the tiniest part connected to the publication feels surreal.

DIY Storage Jars

March 3, 2017

It’s no secret that I have a bit of an affinity for cute and practical storage (see exhibit A) so it should come as no surprise that tackling our kitchen’s lack of useful storage solutions was at the top of my priority list for our mini kitchen makeover. These DIY storage jars are the perfect answer to my storage woes, providing ample space for a few choice dry goods all the while adding a serious dose of style to our countertop at a budget friendly price (the entire project cost under $20!).

Gratitude and February in Review

February 28, 2017

I’m going to try something new this month and combine my two monthly wrap up posts into one. Often times the events and experiences I share in my month in review posts are the very things I’m grateful for, so combining the two only makes sense. If you do not like this concept, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I can separate the two posts out again next month if it is preferable.

February was one jam packed month, somehow containing both a trip down to San Diego and one up to Seattle. It was wonderful to see my former home cities, though both visits brought up a lot of memories and emotions. It all made for a very eventful and speedy month.

Mini Kitchen Makeover

February 24, 2017

It has been quite a while since I shared my last flurry of DIY projects on Musings on Momentum and there is actually a very valid reason for the lull. You see, my husband and I have been casually looking for a new place closer to my office and I have therefore been having a hard time justifying doing any type of work on our current home. However, after discussing it with my husband, I have decided to go ahead and complete our mini kitchen makeover as previously scheduled. We both figure that we might as well make our kitchen as functional and enjoyable as possible during our (potential) final few months in our home.

Our current kitchen is brand new and gorgeous but is not my dream space. To start with, it’s rather closed off from the rest of our home. It doesn’t offer quite as much counter space or storage as I need and I’m therefore always having to pause during meal prep to clean and create more work space. This mini makeover is all about finding little ways to make the space better serve my needs.

Talk about kitchen goals.  I’m drawing all kinds of inspiration from this uncluttered countertop.

The inspiration I’m sharing with you today is the driving force behind our upcoming mini kitchen makeover. It includes everything from practical storage solutions to a way to add additional work space to a small kitchen. The best part? The upcoming DIYs I have planned are going to cost a combined total of less than $100. Talk about getting bang for your buck.
