It has been quite a while since I shared my last flurry of DIY projects on Musings on Momentum and there is actually a very valid reason for the lull. You see, my husband and I have been casually looking for a new place closer to my office and I have therefore been having a hard time justifying doing any type of work on our current home. However, after discussing it with my husband, I have decided to go ahead and complete our mini kitchen makeover as previously scheduled. We both figure that we might as well make our kitchen as functional and enjoyable as possible during our (potential) final few months in our home.
Our current kitchen is brand new and gorgeous but is not my dream space. To start with, it’s rather closed off from the rest of our home. It doesn’t offer quite as much counter space or storage as I need and I’m therefore always having to pause during meal prep to clean and create more work space. This mini makeover is all about finding little ways to make the space better serve my needs.
The inspiration I’m sharing with you today is the driving force behind our upcoming mini kitchen makeover. It includes everything from practical storage solutions to a way to add additional work space to a small kitchen. The best part? The upcoming DIYs I have planned are going to cost a combined total of less than $100. Talk about getting bang for your buck.

I love the uniformity of these storage jars.
As I mentioned, I’m severally lacking in both storage space and counter space. To address the issue of storage space, I am planning on creating an exceedingly organized and uniform storage solution with the help of basic clear glass containers and a labeling system.

These adorable containers add a bit of fun to the kitchen while providing a practical storage solution.
A lack of counter space is the other lingering issue in our kitchen. While I’d love to blow out a wall and completely redo the room – all the while incorporating more counter space into my design – that simply isn’t feasible right now. The best option, and the one I’m taking, is to add a bit of additional work space with the help of a moveable bar cart. The cart will offer both the prep space I so desperately need along with a place for additional long term storage.
Despite the fact a move is likely imminent, I’m looking forward to completing this mini kitchen makeover and enjoying the fruits of my labor (at least for a little while). Stay tuned!
