It’s no secret that I have a bit of an affinity for cute and practical storage (see exhibit A) so it should come as no surprise that tackling our kitchen’s lack of useful storage solutions was at the top of my priority list for our mini kitchen makeover. These DIY storage jars are the perfect answer to my storage woes, providing ample space for a few choice dry goods all the while adding a serious dose of style to our countertop at a budget friendly price (the entire project cost under $20!).

To get started on this project you only need two materials – the jars on which you wish to print your labels and the labels themselves. I picked up my Korken style jars IKEA for $3.99 each, what a steal! The jars come in four sizes, so you can conceivably create an entire uniform storage solution using just these affordable and versatile jars.

Once you have selected your jars, you can begin designing your labels. I wanted mine to be chic with an element of whimsy, so I chose a fun font for my DIY storage jars.
When your design is complete, simply print your labels on clear sticker paper (I used Silhouette Printable Clear Sticker Paper and am thrilled with my results), cut them to size and apply them to the outside of your clean and empty jars.

I am beyond happy with how my storage jars turned out. They provide very necessary and practical kitchen storage while at the same time managing to elevate the entire look of the room. It’s always amazing to see what a difference a DIY project can make, even on the tightest of budgets!
