Something about this last birthday has made me hyper-aware of the ways my body is beginning to show signs of aging. Hard workouts leave me sore for days which never happened just a couple of years ago. I don’t have the endless supply of energy I once had, generally opting to stay in on work nights rather than hitting the town. Most notably, fine lines and wrinkles are starting to creep in. Retinol is keeping most of the effects of visible aging at bay but there are some sensitive areas I can’t apply my beloved retinol to like my eyes. When it comes to eye treatments I have been searching for “the one” for years and, hundreds of dollars later, have never been left satisfied with a product. Enter the new hero in my life – PCA SKIN’s Complex Revitalizing Eye Gel.
I was a PCA SKIN fan to begin with so when I had the opportunity to test their Complex Revitalizing Eye Gel I jumped at the opportunity. A little about my history with the brand – in 2012 I had an awful round of hormonal breakouts that left me insecure and physically scarred. I was fortunate enough to find a fabulous aesthetician, Vanessa, who single handedly saved my skin through facial peels, broke me of some really negative skincare habits and became a great friend. Vanessa solely uses PCA products both personally and on all of her clients and I quickly became hooked on the gentle and effective brand. I used only their products for the next three years and my skin remained in the best condition of my life during that time until hormonal imbalances struck again at the end of last year.
Needless to say, any chance I have to work with PCA SKIN I’m going to take because I’ve already had such great success with the brand. Developed in 1990 by an aesthetician and dermatologist, PCA SKIN is grounded in scientific research which leads to top of the line product innovation. This eye gel is no exception. Billed as a product that strengthens, lifts and firms the delicate under eye area, the light as can be gel is said to decrease dark circles while treating puffiness, fine lines and sagging. Basically it is an all in one miracle eye product, right?
Well it turns out that’s exactly what this anti-aging eye gel has been for me and I really put this product to the test. It’s no secret that my skin is incredibly sensitive, particularly around the eye area. I have broken out in hives after using eye creams that were supposed to be the most gentle of the gentle and had started to be scared to use anything around the area save facial lotion. Right off the bat I had absolutely zero negative reaction to the Complex Revitalizing Eye Gel which, in and of itself, is a huge selling point to me.
I tried out the gel during the week leading up to Coachella, during Coachella and the week following the festival when I happened to be struck down by an awful virus that resulted in a week of bed rest. It was quite the test drive and I honestly didn’t expect any product to be able to stand up to the stressors and environmental factors I was throwing at it but it did.
For the first time ever the desert wind didn’t leave the skin around my eyes dry and peeling and lack of sleep didn’t leave my eyes puffy each morning. Despite the fact I was sick for a week and generally looking like death warmed over my eyes didn’t show it in the way they normally do. Now that I’m at the very end of this virus and functioning again I’m able to notice that the appearance of fine lines around my eyes has indeed decreased.
I’m incredibly thankful for FINALLY finding my holy grail eye product and fully plan on purchasing a new tube once mine runs out. The price tag is admittedly a bit steep, but after wasting hundreds on products that didn’t work for me I’m willing to spend a bit more for a quality eye gel that delivers visible results.
