We Bought A House!

May 11, 2018

As you are reading this, I am waking up for the very first time in Kansas City, Missouri, my new home as of June 1. I hinted at it in the past but I can now officially share that over the course of the last three months, my husband and I have been quietly working away to make our biggest collaboration yet a reality. We bought a house in Kansas City!  If this comes as a surprise to you, you are not alone. It comes as a huge surprise to the two of us as well!  It is a gigantic move and leap of faith but we are both more than ready to start this exciting new chapter.

Our Coachella 2018 Vlog

April 30, 2018

In the days and weeks leading up to Coachella, I made no secret about the fact that I was positively bursting with excitement over the prospect of returning to my favorite music festival.  I listened to my Coachella playlists on repeat; I planned my looks for each day of the festival prior to ever leaving Los Angeles; I had even mapped a good portion of how I wanted this Coachella 2018 vlog to look in advance.  I was PREPARED!  What is that saying about the best laid plans?  Oh yes, they will go awry and, friends, awry they went.

I ultimately ended up attending 35% of the music festival before my right hip decided it had enough and gave out.  This happened shortly over an hour before Beyoncé took the stage on the second night of the festival.  You know, Beyoncé, one of the acts I was most looking forward to seeing!  In addition to dealing with a great deal of pain I was, understandably, disappointed on a massive scale.  You see, not only had I desperately wanted to see Beyoncé’s epic performance live I had, more than anything, wanted to spend the three-day festival having incredible experiences with some of my closest friends prior to our upcoming move out of state.

I was CRUSHED.  If I am being completely honest, I genuinely considered not releasing this vlog because I thought it would be too painful to relive the memories and try to fill in the gaps that I missed.  But, as my husband and I began sifting through footage, an incredible thing happened.  Those very friends I was so disappointed to not spend time with began sending their Coachella footage, and lots of it.  I got Beyoncé’s performance guys, and I got ALL of it!  Following Beyoncé, Chromeo was sent to us, then Odesza, then Eminem and, little by little, this vlog began to take shape.  Our Coachella 2018 vlog may not have ended up quite as planned but, with a little help from my friends, it turned out to be even more meaningful than anticipated.

I Quit My Job!

April 16, 2018

I have sat down to write this post several times over the course of the last few weeks and, without fail, struggled to come up with the proper words to express in equal parts my excitement and fear over reaching this pivotal point in my life.  Rather than trying to summarize it nicely, I am going to give you the Cliff Notes version right here in this introduction – I QUIT MY JOB TO PURSUE BLOGGING!  Now that the elephant in the room has been addressed and I have shouted my excitement from the rooftop, I unfortunately need to put a damper on everyone’s enthusiasm, including my own, because this step did not come to fruition for quite the reason I hoped it would.

After the jump, I am delving deeper into the personal reasons I chose to make this leap of faith NOW.  The reality of this situation is quite heavy and hard to share, but it is important to me that I do not sugarcoat this.  While it would be wonderful if life could be neatly tied up with a picture-perfect bow, that simply is not reality and, more than anything, I want this platform to represent reality, both good and bad.

Coachella 2018 Wishlist

April 5, 2018

The Coachella Music and Arts Festival is one of my happy places and I can hardly contain my excitement that Weekend 1 of the festival is a mere eight days away.  Unlike last year, my husband and I are only attending Weekend 2, so we have a few additional days to wait until we can fully soak in the desert oasis.  Nevertheless, I am already in complete planning mode, with each of my daily looks planned and accessorized (because I’m special like that), and am essentially counting down the seconds until we bid Los Angeles farewell and the desert hello.  Until we make the drive out to Indio, I will be living vicariously through my Coachella 2018 wishlist, endless Instagram Stories, and Coachella’s live stream of their Weekend 1 acts because, let’s face it, I just can’t get enough.
