Musings on Momentum

design a life you love

July in Review

July 26, 2016

I started a monthly series in May in which I share a glimpse into what the past few weeks of my life have looked like.  I skipped my monthly review in June because, as I previously shared, it was a rough month for me but I’m back in business with my July in Review and ready to wrap up the month by sharing the events I attended and the amazing food and drinks I had the pleasure of sampling.

Music Mondays – July Playlist

July 11, 2016

To be completely honest I struggled with this July playlist.  For the most part I try to share new releases and, not to be a downer, this summer hasn’t brought the songs of the summer type hits like past summers have.  I feel quite strongly about this and even re-tweeted an article The Daily Beast put out about the very topic a few days ago.  There are obviously a few front runners for “song of the summer” but everything in between has sounded a bit monotonous to me.  This playlist therefore encompasses a wide range of genres however I did still try to create a feel good summer playlist for you all that includes a little something for everyone.

I would love to hear what you have on repeat right now and consider the “song of the summer”!

Music Mondays – June Playlist

June 13, 2016

Once upon a time, years and years ago when I was in high school, I made beginning of the summer playlists that I would listen to as I drove to and from campus each day.  The playlists served to get me through finals and the last dragging days of school and set the tone for the summer to come.  I thought I was done with those playlists but, as I discovered while compiling this June playlist, I apparently still very much enjoy having a good medley of music to ring in the summer with.

This playlist is happy, it is hopeful, it is my past and present summers epitomized.  It might still be overcast and hovering right around seventy degrees in Los Angeles but when I listen to this cheery compilation I’m transported to warmer and sunnier days.

May in Review

June 1, 2016

Beginning today I will be sharing a quick monthly recap of what I have been up to near the end of each month.  I realized early in the month of May that I should be sharing more than fleeting glimpses into the delicious eateries and bars I discover and of the exciting events I attend on Instagram and Snapchat (kasiechelanne).  Each month will be a little different as my calendar and life evolve and some months there likely won’t be as much to share, but that is not the case in this inaugural post!  May has been jam packed full of mind blowing food, cocktails and concerts and I’m excited to give you all a sneak peek into what the last four weeks have brought into my life.

Music Mondays – May Playlist

May 9, 2016

I know I didn’t deliver my promised post-Coachella recap and that’s because I sadly didn’t end up seeing a lot of the festival this year.  I was sick for the majority of Saturday and Sunday and unfortunately missed out on a lot of the acts.  I was understandably incredibly disappointed…I had looked forward to the festival for an entire year and then got about 1/10th of the experience I was expecting and hoping for.  It has taken the past couple of weeks to recover both physically and from the let down of missing something I so wanted to experience.

Fortunately my husband and I are planning on a summer jam packed full of concerts and festivals to make up for Coachella and are ultimately catching the majority of acts we didn’t get to see over the next few months.  All hope is not lost!

This May playlist is largely serving the purpose of getting me, and hopefully all of you, ready for warm, sunlit and music-filled days ahead.  It’s full of cheery songs meant to take you from the bright and crisp days of spring into the long and languid days of summer.
