The combination of dry winter air and prescription strength retinol has wreaked complete havoc on my skin. For months it has been alternating between dryness and peeling, at times staging all out revolts against me. It has been a really fun time.
That in mind, you can imagine how excited I was to team up with Valentia Skin Care to put their new Royal Rose Hydrating Serum to the test. Valentia’s products are formulated solely with natural and organic components that are combined to repair and protect skin. Since one of my goals for the year is to move towards using safer and more natural skin care and makeup products, I was thrilled to try out this serum and see if it could make a difference on my skin.

When I received my bottle of Royal Rose Hydrating Serum I was immediately impressed by the elegant packaging. I’m sure a few of you can attest to the fact that natural beauty products don’t always come in the prettiest of packages. In fact, more often than not, I deem such products too plain-looking to be displayed. That was not the case with this hydrating serum. The delicate little bottle fit right in with my higher end products and quickly took a place of prominence on my bathroom counter.
While I immediately loved the outer appearance of the bottle I was understandably apprehensive about applying the serum to my sensitive skin. The product’s natural ingredients and lightweight feel however quickly won me over. Valentina Skin Care explained that this particular product was designed to not only give skin a boost of moisture but also to repair damage previously done through the use of five powerful ingredients:
Rosa Damascena: A nourishing oil that provides balance, moisture, and a variety of vitamins and minerals to the skin.
Niacinamide (Vitamin B): Clinically proven to fade away hyperpigmentation, sun spots and acne.
Rosehip Seed Oil: Naturally rich in Vitamins C and A, these essential fatty acids work quickly to lock in skins moisture.
Evening Primrose Oil: Provides light, non-oily moisture to the skin, never clogging or irritating the skin.
Bearberry: Reduces melanin production, thereby lightening the skin, revealing a brighter complexion.
I began by applying the serum after my nightly retinol and before my moisturizer to a small patch on one side of my forehead. I went to bed not expecting to see immediate results the following morning. Imagine my surprise when I woke up to find that small area of my forehead looking plump and moisturized! I was highly impressed with the results I got but still a bit skeptical so the following night I applied the serum more liberally to my forehead and around my eyes. The next morning I was greeted with moisturized, soothed skin.
The fact that this serum effectively soothes my skin is a really big deal because literally nothing ever soothes my skin. It is next to impossible to find a product that gives my skin the hit of moisture it so desperately needs without leaving it oily or reactive. This product does, essentially, work miracles for me. My skin both looks and feels healthier, my makeup is going on more smoothly and I’m giving my face daily doses of beneficial oils. It is safe to say that I’ll be using ever last drop of this serum.
