We have have been in our new home for nearly a year and little by little I am making my way through it and giving each room a mini makeover. When we first moved in it was unexpectedly and we didn’t have the time or money to put a lot of thought into what we wanted our new space to look like. Leading up to the move I blogged about my initial inspiration for each room (you can look back and see the living space, kitchen, bedroom, and bath inspiration) but due to the fact that our move was immediately followed by our wedding and honeymoon just a few months later we simply did not have the ability to turn that inspiration into reality at that time.
Ultimately I’m happy life worked out the way that it did because after living in the space for a year I have a somewhat different idea of the look and feel I would like to achieve. My style has evolved somewhat in the past 365 days, largely thanks to having this platform to continue developing it on, and I am ready to make some changes. First up is our modern eclectic living room mini makeover.
This stunning Silverlake living room is the primary inspiration behind our makeover. The combination of the natural elements of leather, wicker and wood with modern glass and accessories, classic touches, and bold art perfectly melds my husband and my individual styles.
I shared this incredible room by Amber Interiors previously and am bringing it back because I love it so much. Amber Lewis always combines natural touches and interesting textures in her designs and this room is providing me with a ton of inspiration.
The way the cool, calm and muted tones of the room carry through all the details is something I’m trying to emulate in our space. The eclectic mix of printed pillows and the marble-esque prints hanging over the fireplace are both elements I will be incorporating in our living room mini makeover.
I love the juxtaposition of the leather couch and varied pillows in this room. That combination is the driving force behind my upcoming pillow cover selections.
Finally, this gorgeous piece of art is inspiring a new statement piece to complete the pseudo gallery wall around our tv and an additional fun project I have coming up. I’ll be sharing both DIYs in upcoming posts.
I hope you enjoyed the inspiration behind our living room mini makeover as much as I do. I searched long and hard for the perfect images to drive my decorating decisions and, let me tell you, coming up with a plan my husband and I both agreed on has been a bit of a challenge! Nevertheless I finally succeeded and am excited to share every step of the way with you all!
