Make Me Over with MAKE Beauty

April 27, 2016

One of the most fun aspects of blogging as of late has been having the opportunity to learn about different beauty brands and products.  I have always been quite set in my beauty ways thanks to my mother and grandmother who had tried and true beauty routines while I was growing up and have not experimented with products or my look too much in the past.  When I find a product I like I stick with it for years, even decades.  Seriously, I have been using the same brow pencil since I was 16 and can almost guarantee I will never deviate from it because I DON’T mess with my brows. Every so often though a line comes along that grabs me and makes me want to experiment with something new.  MAKE Beauty is one of those brands for so many reasons; for their products, for the beliefs they were founded on, and for their continued core values.

Started and produced in New York City, MAKE was created around the belief that there are no beauty rules and that “each individual is driven by an artist approach to their own personal reality”. How great of a foundation is that?  The company’s products encourage creative expression in whatever form that speaks to you, be it through a minimal look or one that is more dramatic. Whatever look it is you’re going for, MAKE wants to help you achieve it.

Their strong founding principles don’t stop there however.  All of their products are paraben free, fragrance free, preservative free, and never tested on animals.  10% of ALL SALES are donated to the We See Beauty Foundation which supports women-led, worker-owned co-ops across America. They’re a beautiful company inside and out and have a mission to make you feel the same.  (The gushing portion of this post was in no way sponsored by the way, I was only asked to give my honest feedback about their products.  I just really love their company.)

Fortunately for me, I enjoyed their products just as much as I enjoyed learning about their company values.  I was sent their Matte Finish Eyeshadow in Alabaster and their Silk Cream Lipstick in Taffy. What first struck me about both products was the fabulous branding.  Monochrome and minimal, their stylish packaging is exactly what I would design as the wrapping for my own products if I was given the opportunity.

MAKE Beauty Combo

Inside the sleek and elegant outer shell were two products that worked really well with my complexion and skin tone.  Their eyeshadows are all highly pigmented; the Alabaster that I sampled being a barely there bone shade that added just the subtlest of pop to my eyes.  Their Silk Cream Lipstick lived up to the name and kept my lips as moisturized as lip balm, the Taffy color enhancing my natural lip color perfectly.  Both products felt velvetty yet light and were long lasting.  They gave me the subtlest of enhancement, helping me achieve the natural look I strive for.

After my initial experience I am officially a MAKE convert.  They produce quality products at a reasonable price point and, best yet, are a company I feel good about giving my money to.  If you’re in the market for new makeup I highly suggest checking them out.  As a special treat to you guys MAKE is offering 20% off through May 31 when you use the code “MAKEYOURSELF”!
