The name of these cookies is not an exaggeration. They are truly magical. Possibly even a little sinful, making them a perfect indulgence for this time of year. We can all wait until 2016 to worry about losing a few pounds in cookie weight, right? I promise you that these are worth a couple of extra sessions at the gym.

This recipe originally came from a college friend of my mother’s and was passed down to me several years ago. It had been tucked in the back of my recipe box until last Christmas when I was looking around for ideas of tasty holiday snacks I could make for my coworkers. I stumbled upon this molasses cookie recipe and it sounded decently good and easy enough to make so I gave it a go. I wasn’t expecting anything special, thinking a molasses cookie was a molasses cookie. Boy was I wrong.

They might not look like much on the sheet, but just wait until you take a bite!
What was produced from this simple recipe were the most spectacular cookies I had ever tasted. I took them in to work to share with my office mates and they loved them just as much. In fact, they have been talking about them for the entire past year, begging me to make them again this Christmas. Since I am going to oblige them I thought I would go one step further and share the recipe with all of you so that you can enjoy them this holiday season as well.

Behold, holiday cookie gloriousness!
If you’re looking for a quick and easy cookie recipe to share with friends, family and coworkers alike this holiday season, I implore of you to give this one a try. They may look like your basic molasses cookie on the outside, but inside they are pure magic for your taste buds.
