We are in the home stretch of 2018 and holiday preparations can be found around every turn. My roundups of holiday decor have been favorites in the past, so I decided to raise the bar this year. To help inspire your holiday season ahead, I have put together the ultimate guide to casually elegant Scandinavian holiday decor. It is my hope that this guide will motivate you to try something different with your home decor this winter and will leave you feeling excited for the season ahead.
As I decorate my new home for the holidays (for the first time ever!) I am drawing inspiration from these examples of Scandinavian holiday decor by including the following touches in my design.
HOW TO INCORPORATE SCANDINAVIAN HOLIDAY DECOR INTO YOUR HOME
- Natural elements are your best friend – Whether they are real or faux, natural elements are one of the easiest and most budget friendly ways to infuse a bit of casual elegance into your holiday decor. Try utilizing pine, eucalyptus, berries, and pinecones in your decor this holiday season.
- A monochrome palette goes a long ways – Sticking to a monochrome color scheme is a surefire way to create a casually refined Scandinavian look. A tree decorated solely in silver and white ornaments is an easy way to add some serious elegance to your design.
- Keep things simple – It is tempting to go big and over-the-top during the holidays but, this year, try to exercise some restraint when it comes to decorating. Sometimes removing that extra garland or wreath is just what the doctor ordered.
- Candles equal holiday sophistication – Dispersing candles liberally throughout your home – on your coffee table, windowsills, mantle, etc. ensures a romantic and sophisticated aesthetic.
- A little metallic goes a long ways – Rather than piling on the shiny tinsel, try adding elegant gold or copper touches throughout your home sparingly for casual, almost accidental, finesse.
