A Fresh Look in Vegan Skincare with DERMA E

November 25, 2016

If you’re a regular visitor to Musings on Momentum, you know that I strive to use natural skincare products whenever possible. One such brand that I have become acquainted with is DERMA E. You can find their GMO and cruelty-free lotions and potions at local retailers like Whole Foods, Sprouts and Ulta Beauty, meaning that their products are exceedingly easy to get your hands on here in the States.

DERMA E has a long history of making sustainable, natural products and have managed to stay at the top of their game and evolve as decades have passed. The company’s latest evolution comes in the form of their packaging which they recently revamped. I had the opportunity to take an early look at it and absolutely adore their simplified new look. Not only are DERMA E’s vegan skincare products top of their line, their packaging is now as well.

October in Review – Desert Trip Edition

October 27, 2016

In my month in review posts, I generally share a combination of the restaurants, bars, and activities I have experienced in the past thirty days. October in Review is a bit outside the norm because the month itself was. I spent the past four weeks doing essentially nothing except working, sleeping and attending music festivals. On repeat.

A word of warning, if you are not a huge fan of live music and festivals, you might want to skip the text of this post. I’m sharing two straight weekends of amazing, once in a lifetime festival experiences that might not be everyone’s cup of tea. To those of you whose hearts beat to the same musical drum as mine, this one is for you.

Our San Francisco City Hall Wedding – One Year Later

October 23, 2016

We enter into marriage, into any relationship really, hoping for the best. Even the greatest optimist amongst us though has to be at least a bit pragmatic about the realities of wedlock. Permanently (or what we hope will be permanently) joining two lives together and adapting to all of the personal, financial and daily changes that go along with that is hard.

I entered into marriage with perhaps an overly realistic outlook as to what the first year would present and, due to that view, anticipated a tough period of adjustment riddled with challenges. Fortunately, I couldn’t have been more wrong in my thinking. This first year of marriage has exceeded any of my wildest hopes and dreams for what I thought a best life, a best union, and a best relationship could be. It has been a genuine pleasure to be my husband’s wife and to grow as an individual and couple with him by my side.

We said “I do” to one another one year ago in an exceedingly intimate San Francisco City Hall wedding ceremony. Though I was comfortable about our decision to have a very small, private wedding at the time, I did admittedly wonder if I would feel happy about that decision down the road. One year later I can safely say that I still wholeheartedly feel that we made the right choice for us. We stayed true to ourselves, to our values and to our hearts and were able to create an extraordinary special day that was shared solely with our parents…and now with all of you!

I shared a few initial photos from our day shortly after the wedding but we chose not to share the professional ones outside of our families. Not even our friends have seen them! That changes today. In honor of our first anniversary, I’m excited to share a glimpse into our San Francisco City Hall wedding with all of you.

Taking on Thirty with ARK Age Aware Skincare

October 8, 2016

I don’t want to age myself but I have to admit that I was really excited to turn 30 this past January. My 20s were, how shall I put it…challenging. Years 20–29 were full of uncertainty and what felt like an endless amount of searching for who I wanted to become. You know, the normal growing pains every 20-something-year-old feels. Suffice it to say that I was more than ready to leave that period of my life behind and embrace the shiny new decade full of promise that 30 offered.

What I failed to consider were the ways in which I’d start seeing that decade. Joints that never gave me problems now ache, I can no longer stare at a computer all day without getting a migraine, and when I get out of bed in the morning I sometimes want to stiffly stretch in the same awkward, pained manner as my middle-aged dog. See what all of you bright and chipper 20-somethings have to look forward to?

My skin also appears to have gotten the memo about the ticking clock and has significantly changed in both texture and in terms of what it requires to stay looking plump and moisturized. Lucky for me, ARK Age Aware Skincare, a British skincare brand that treats skin concerns by age, reached out to me and offered to help ease my skin’s transition into this new decade.
