Gratitude in July

July 30, 2016

July has ended up to be quite the introspective month. I was so looking forward to it following the month of the year in which I struggle the most.  Yet before I could even stop and fully take stock of everything happening in my life, it’s over.

Part of me loves that…I have been busy at work, busy with this blog and just all around busy with my life and I generally thrive the most during times like these. Yet there’s an ever growing part of me that really desires to slow down and appreciate all the amazing things in my life just a bit more. I’ve been going so fast the fun times and awesome memories made this past month flew by without me completely acknowledging and enjoying them.

Gratitude in July

Strangely, that realization is what I am most grateful for this month. It has become abundantly clear that I am not living in the moment as much as I want to and need to be. The past thirty days have been an excellent wakeup call.

I know I’m not the only one who struggles with this particular issue. All of our lives are filled to the brim whether it is with school, a demanding job, interpersonal relationships, children, or blogging. The list goes on and on. We get so caught up in getting through the daily grind and bouncing from one responsibility to the next that we often times miss out on the amazing things taking place around us.

I don’t pretend to have an answer as to how we can all slow down and live in the moment more often. All I know is that I’m at a point in my life where I really need to figure it out. So please share any and all suggestions you might have. How do you balance your responsibilities? How do you decompress? How do you do it all?

While a realization is a bit of an unconventional thing to be grateful for it’s also a bit of a refreshing one. I sometimes have a hard time gauging what I want and need in my life when things start getting busy. The fact that I’m able to see the sun through the haze of the everyday is encouraging and makes me feel like I’m one step closer to learning how to lead the best and happiest possible life for myself.

What has the month of July brought into your lives? What experiences, realizations and memories are you the most thankful for as the month comes to a close?
