I don’t know what it is about the holiday season this year but I’m finding myself uncharacteristically cheery about the prospect of Christmas being a mere 3 ½ weeks away. I generally fall more in the spectrum of “Grinch” when it comes to holidays, so this is truly out of character for me. The only excuse I can come up is that it will be the first Christmas EVER that my husband and I are a) in the same city as one another and b) staying in California for the holiday. If that isn’t cause for endless rounds of Christmas carols and eggnog, I don’t know what is!
Many moons ago, approximately 365 days ago to be precise, when I shared my December 2016 Music Mondays playlist, I received requests for a holiday-specific playlist. I filed the appeal away in the back of my mind and didn’t think much about it again until October of this year. Once the holidays were within reach, I excitedly started assembling the 2017 Holiday Playlist that I’m sharing with you today. It is full of Christmas favorites, both old and new, and, in keeping with the holiday spirit, contains a little something for everyone.

You can find links to this playlist on both Apple Music and Spotify after the jump.
When I began compiling this holiday mix, I started with the Christmas music I listened to growing up like Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, and Nat King Cole. Those three gentlemen are the crooners that many of my childhood holiday memories are set to. I distinctly recollect arriving at my grandparents’ house every Christmas morning and immediately hearing one of the three purring away in the next room. They always perfectly set the tone for the exciting day ahead.
As I grew older, my taste in holiday music began to lean towards rock, hence the inclusion of Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Nicks, and The Eagles. A few years further down the road, I began to embrace more of the popular Christmas music filling the airwaves like Mariah Carey, She & Him, and Michael Bublé. This 2017 holiday playlist is therefore a medley of favorites from each of those phases, making it one that is very close to my heart. I sincerely hope that each of you find one of your own holiday favorites on this playlist as well.
