If you follow me on social media (I would love to connect!), you may have already guessed that I am absolutely ecstatic to share my November 2017 playlist with you. After all, I have been dropping hints about the content of it for weeks now! This month’s mix features a fun and eclectic blend of genres sure to get you in a dramatic cold weather mood. You can find an in-depth breakdown of my picks, including my recent firsthand experience at an intimate Greta van Fleet show, along with some exciting news about me finally listening to your requests and signing up again for Spotify, after the jump.

I am starting things off with Greta van Fleet, who have quickly become one of my favorite bands. Truth be told, they are already in the running for my favorite band of all time and they just released their first full album last Friday. I was initially introduced to them in mid-October through the song I’m sharing this month, “Safari Song”. Before the song had ended, I had purchased tickets to a small upcoming show of theirs at The Moroccan Lounge in Downtown LA for five times the original asking price. Greta van Fleet is THAT kind of band. They have that rare sound that stops you in your tracks, makes you reevaluate every comparatively mediocre song you were previously a fan of, and, if you’re lucky and they’re coming to your town, one listen is all that it will take for you to find yourself purchasing ridiculously marked up tickets.
The Michigan bred band is comprised of three brothers and their drummer, all of whom are in their late teens and early 20’s. They are increasingly known around LA as “that Led Zeppelin band” but, in my opinion, they are so much more. This immensely talented group of guys grew up heavily influenced by vinyl including, yes, Led Zeppelin. However, if you listen carefully, you can hear the deeper influence of blues and a wide variety of classic rock coursing through their songs, each of which takes on a unique life of its own.
Seeing these guys live was nothing short of a religious musical experience. Their raw talent and enthusiasm is unparalleled to anything I have previously seen from a live group. It is safe to say that I am counting down the months, days, seconds, even, until I have the opportunity to see Greta van Fleet again.

Greta van Fleet changing my life.
Tash Sultana is another new favorite of mine, first referred to me by my hair stylist. The two of us swap the names of artists we have recently come across every time we see one another, and Sultana was her pick from a few appointments back. Tash Sultana is a mere 22 years old (there seems to be a theme to this month’s playlist…) and is an insanely talented singer, songwriter and multi-instrument musician. If you like her sound, do yourself a favor and check out a few YouTube videos of her live because they are nothing short of mind blowing.
The remainder of my playlist is full of a mix of old and new favorites like Liam Gallagher, The Killers, Grace VanderWaal (she is a mere 13 years old in keeping with this month’s theme), and Above & Beyond. It is a bit of a random blend but it feels in keeping with how all over the place life has been lately. I hope you all come across something to love on this playlist. I’d love to hear what your favorites are and, please, do check out more of Greta van Fleet. I will continue to include them on my monthly playlists, but they are poised to take over the music world in the next few years, and I would love for you all to enjoy their meteoric rise right along with me.
In other news, I have been listening to your requests to post my playlists on Spotify and just signed up for the service again. Currently, only this most recent playlist is up, but moving forward I will add each monthly playlist to both Apple Music and Spotify. I’d love to connect and follow all of you, so please add me so I’m certain not to miss anyone!
I want to wrap this up with some exciting news regarding my upcoming Music Mondays playlist for December. I will be releasing my regularly scheduled monthly playlist on Monday, December 18 however, in just two and a half weeks, I will be sharing a bonus holiday playlist on Friday, December 1. I received several requests for a Christmas mix last year and am having a lot of fun putting together something special to get us all in the holiday spirit.
