Due to the fact that we previously lived in a compact apartment prior to moving into our new home, we are starting from scratch in terms of holiday decorating. As new homeowners, we have a keen eye on our spending and have been very purposeful about our decorating choices to ensure that they are appealing AND affordable.

Tips for Beautiful and Attainable Holiday Decor
- Pick a color palette and stick to it to achieve a stunning monochrome look. When you have a specific set of shades in mind, you can create a much more streamlined end result.
- Clear/white holiday lights are your best friend. Not only are they attainable, they also offer an elegant, upscale look.
- Incorporate natural touches into your decor like rosemary, eucalyptus, and seasonal berries. Not only are these options all budget friendly, they are also readily available.

While you are coming up with a holiday decor concept and executing it, it is important to keep in mind the types of entertaining you will be doing. For example, my husband and I know that we will only be hosting intimate gatherings for a handful of friends and family this year. Therefore, we can incorporate more elements of seasonal decor into our home than we would not be able to if we were hosting a large party. We also know that we won’t be hosting any children this holiday season. Therefore, we can work with more breakable objects, such as glass ornaments.

Once you firm up your holiday decor, it’s time to turn your focus to your menu. My husband and my drink of choice this season is the delicious and refreshing Kahlúa Cold Brew Martini. Kahlúa has long been a liqueur that my family enjoys around the holidays, so I am very much looking forward to whipping up a batch of these Kahlúa Cold Brew Martinis for them when they visit. Not only do they incorporate the smooth taste of Kahlúa, which is fabulous in a variety of cocktails, they also provide an extra jolt of much-needed energy in the form of cold brew, something we can all use more of during the holiday season!

To create your own Kahlúa Cold Brew Martinis, pick up a bottle of Kahlúa Original Coffee Liqueur at your local retailer. I was able to find mine at Target during a last-minute holiday shopping run. You can also find it carried at your nearest Walmart store.

I hope these tips will help you navigate your own holiday season. As you begin to prepare for the celebrations ahead, consider incorporating the delicious and refreshing flavor of Kahlúa into your own holiday traditions. Cheers!
