This DIY has been a long time coming. I have had a bit of a bar cart fetish for several years now but, until a few months ago, had never owned one. That all changed when my husband and I downsized from our large two-bedroom apartment to our comparatively cozy one-bed (*background on our surprise move can be found at the end of this post). Prior to our move, we did some serious house cleaning and ultimately donated about 40% of our belongings, including our big, awesome bar cabinet that previously served as our drink station.
As anyone who has ever moved can attest, there are a lot of surprise expenses that pop up during that singularly stressful period. Our move was no different and we found that we were in no position to purchase a fancy new bar cart to fit into our new space. We wracked our brains about what to do with our ever-expanding liquor selection until I finally decided to tackle the problem head on by transforming an inexpensive IKEA piece into the marble and gold bar cart of my dreams. Today’s tutorial outlines how you can create your own IKEA Sunnersta DIY bar cart at an affordable price point.
