An 8 Week Spring Workout Plan to Whip You Into Shape

February 20, 2019

We all occasionally struggle with staying motivated when it comes to fitness, particularly during these cold and short winter days.  When you are spending the majority of your time bundled up in multiple layers, it is easy to lose track of fitness goals.  This year, in an effort to inspire both myself as well as all of you, I put together an 8 week spring workout plan to motivate us and give us a collective kick in the butt so that we can achieve all our spring and summer body goals.

This accessible at-home 8 week spring workout plan is designed to motivate you and give you a gentle kick in the butt so that you can achieve all our spring and summer body goals.

If you have been following my blog or Instagram for a while, you may have noticed an uptick in fitness, as well as overall wellness, content.  The shift is happening for a coupe of reasons, the first being that I genuinely love living an active lifestyle and sharing it with all of you so I am trying to incorporate more of that type of content into Musings on Momentum.  The second reason for the increase is that after nearly two full years of dealing with a severe hip injury, I am FINALLY able to exercise again on a regular basis and am working harder than ever before to get in shape and stay in shape.

When I was in my 20s, exercise was driven by a desire to look a certain way.  If I wanted a six-pack, I would increase my ab workouts.  If I wanted to tone my legs, I would squat like a crazy person.  Being diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and dealing with constant injuries has made staying in shape more of a practical matter than a superficial one.  If I continue to gain strength and avoid injury, I maintain my mobility and freedom, plain and simple.  It is important to me to share that journey with all of you and, hopefully, in turn motivate you to achieve your own fitness goals, whether they are centered around an upcoming beach vacation or avoiding injury.

I wanted to keep this workout plan accessible to all and am therefore starting slow and increasing frequency and length of time week by week.  All of these workouts can be found for free on YouTube and do not require equipment beyond a yoga mat and light hand weights.  No day, even when we are in the midst of Week 8, will require any more than 60 minutes of your time.  I want this plan to feel doable for all of us and something we can work up to together.  So, without further ado, I give you your 8 week spring workout plan, designed to motivate and inspire you to reach all of your fitness goals.

This spring workout plan only requires twelve exercise videos that I have broken up into three categories for easy reference: Strength, Cardio, and Toning.  These are some of my very favorite workout videos, some of which, like the Pilates butt workout you can find directly below, I have been doing for 5+ years.  These can all be worked up to, so if you can’t get through a 30-minute workout just yet, don’t worry.  You WILL get there.
