With Christmas a little over a week away, I can’t help but think back to holiday seasons of yesteryear. When I reminisce about the holidays of my youth, I inevitably envision the sprawling holiday tables my grandmother put together each Christmas. Not only were her tables always crowded with delicious dishes she and my mother made from scratch, they were also always decorated to perfection.

My grandmother didn’t stick to a specific theme for her Christmas tablescapes from year to year, but I could always count on tapered candles being part of her centerpiece. It is thanks to those childhood memories that I still equate that type of tall, elegant candle with the holiday season.

Now that this year’s seasonal festivities are nearly upon us, I’m finding that I’m scrambling to prepare and come up with gift ideas for loved ones. As you likely know by now, I prefer to either give gifts that give back or presents that I’ve made myself so that they a personal touch. This year, with my grandmother’s Christmas tablescapes in mind, I made elegant metallic DIY dip dyed candles that I am incredibly excited to gift to a few special people in my life.
