By the end of a Monday at work exactly zero part of me wanted to rush home, throw together a salad for dinner, get gussied up, venture down the ever terrifying Hollywood Boulevard to the Metro, deal with a Metro transfer at Wilshire and Vermont (but what do you meaaan we have to transfer from the red line to the purple line only to backtrack to get to the Wiltern?), all to make it to a 7:00 PM show at The Wiltern. SPOILER ALERT: We didn’t arrive until 8:15. But, as I was bemoaning my life, it hit me that we won’t have the ability to go on concert adventures like these sans the procurement of a baby sitter and with severe repercussions for that much longer so we have to make the most out of every possible adventure we can have now! So I tried to put a smile on my face, I was more successful once free of the crazies on Hollywood Boulevard and safely seated on the Metro, and enjoy these precious moments of undivided fiancé attention. I didn’t even mind it when he “pretended” to nod off on my shoulder. These moments of physical closeness are hard to come by these days with our busy schedules. It was sure to be a great night! Even if it meant I’d be exhausted for the rest of the week because I stayed up until 12:30 AM on a Monday night/Tuesday morning.

So there I was basking in the bliss that is togetherness when these two teenage guys board the Metro with an amp. Now, this being LA and all, this isn’t that unusual of a site. What was unusual is that they proceeded to do a contortionist dance (yeah, they were contortionists) up and down the Metro aisle. And they were pretty darn good! Huh, that was unexpected. The unforeseen continued after we transferred to the purple line at Wilshire and Vermont. Immediately after boarding a young(ish) guy and girl roped us into their very strange apparently drug-fueled conversation involving whether it’s appropriate to punch a guy in the jaw if he approaches the girl. Uhhh… We tried to bow out graciously but there was no stopping this train once it left the station (pun intended). Thankfully we only had to ride two stops with them, but our farewell consisted of the guy telling my fiancé that I’d be kicking him to the curb to be with the druggie and then with the druggie trying to take my engagement ring off my finger. Ummm, not so much. Lesson learned: always turn around the stone when on public transportation. Oye. Adventures in LA.
