Music Mondays – April 2017 Playlist Vol. 1

Whenever I’m gearing up for a big event in my life, like a music festival or a trip, I create a playlist to help get me excited and in the right mindset for the adventure to come.  When the event in question happens to be Coachella, I create not just one but TWO playlists to help me prepare.  The first volume of my April 2017 playlist includes some of my favorite songs and artists from the last year as well as some old favorites, hinting at an incredible Coachella experience ahead.  Even if you won’t be able to make it to the polo grounds this year, you can join along in my festival experience with the first volume of my Coachella 2017 playlist.

DIY Gemstone Choker

Weekend One of Coachella is a mere 21 days away, not that I’m counting.  Okay, I’m 100% counting but can you blame me?  Music festivals, Coachella specifically, are my happy place so the fact that my favorite festival of them all is just three weeks away is quite exciting.

One of my favorite parts of Coachella is how into the whole scene people get when it comes to fashion and beauty.  Hardcore music festival goers go WAY OUT for Coachella, to the point that attending Weekend One can feel a bit like taking in a bohemian-leaning fashion week.  It’s a fascinating and inspiring scene all at the same time.

While I don’t have any pretenses about being a style blogger, or even that stylish of an individual, I am definitely a DIY-enthusiast, particularly when it comes to festival-related projects like the DIY gemstone choker I’m sharing with you today.  This quick and easy music festival DIY is the perfect way to add a bit of unique personality and bohemian flair to any of your spring and summer looks.

Our London Travel Vlog

Today is the day! It is finally time for me to share my London travel vlog. Half of me is excited while the other half of me feels it necessary to issue a disclaimer along with it. You see, this vlog didn’t end up quite like my husband and I envisioned and it came very close to not being completed at all.

As someone who is new to travel vlogging, it didn’t cross my mind prior to this last trip abroad that perhaps winter is not the best time to try to get gorgeous footage of a European city, particularly of London. It rained close to the entire time we were in England which, from a sightseeing standpoint, wasn’t that big of a deal to us. After all, we both grew up in cities that get their fair share of rain. It became more of an issue when we were unable get the amount of footage we wanted and needed to create the account of our trip that we hoped to. As it turns out, you can’t pull out a camera in the middle of a windy downpour without ruining said camera. Lesson learned.

I am ultimately choosing to still share this London travel vlog because there are some truly memorable moments mixed in with the dark, wet and windy ones (Chelsea FC game, I’m looking at you!). The final product isn’t perfect, but the trip itself wasn’t perfect either and this feels like a pretty accurate representation of that experience. Like anything in life, you get a bit of the bad mixed in with the good and in this situation, the bad happened to involve getting soaked to the bone while having multiple umbrellas carried away by the wind. What can I say? Sometimes life isn’t as picture-perfect as you envisioned it being but it doesn’t make it any less unforgettable.

Music Mondays – March 2017 Playlist

I don’t know about you, but it feels to me as if this winter lasted FOREVER.  Perhaps the uncharacteristically rainy LA days are to blame.  Perhaps it’s the fault of the unseasonably frigid temperatures.  Regardless, seeing the first glimpse of sun and warmth this last weekend felt a bit like one of those scenes in a movie where the clouds finally part allowing the sun beam down.  It was THAT glorious of a feeling.

My March 2017 playlist feels a bit like that to me.  After months of mellow music, it feels incredible to be listening to fun, high energy sunny day songs again.  This medley includes some old favorites like Portugal. The Man, The Chainsmokers and Khalid as well as some new musical obsessions of mine like Ulrika.  I first became aware of Ulrika when we became friends on Instagram and, let me tell you, her new single is on fire.  It’s one of those uplifting songs I can listen to over and over and never tire of.

Even if you haven’t quite reached the sunny days we are blessed with again in Los Angeles yet, I hope this March 2017 playlist gets you in the mood for the light, bright and long days ahead.  Let the sun shine on!

What better way to add a bit of the UK to our day than with a fabulous London home tour? The gorgeous home I’m sharing with you today is equal parts refined and quirky. It’s historical, it’s vibrant, it’s endearing, and it has personality to spare.
