Designed by interior designer Brian Patrick Flynn for a friend, the space combines the building’s original industrial bones with clean lines, warm tones, and a seriously enviable art collection. Today’s lovely Mediterranean-style home tour comes to us from the very talented Homepolish designer, Rosa Beltran. When Rosa first encountered this sprawling Altadena, California property, it was in need of a major overhaul. It was full of outdated faux Mediterranean fixtures from the 90s along with some truly special touches…think shag carpet in the bathroom. Under Rosa’s guidance, the home underwent a complete makeover from the outside in. The end result infuses modern design with bohemian touches, offering a soothing neutral palette full of rich global textures and details.
Following my return to Los Angeles from Venice, Italy, I have been obsessed with all things Italian. Can you blame me? The delicious food, rich history, gorgeous architecture, and innate understanding of how to enjoy life that Italians are famous for are all liable to turn the most casual of tourists into lifelong fans of the country. Needless to say, I would be 100% on board with a move to Italy.
So what exactly would my dream home look like? Well, I think I’d borrow the clean lines and muted palette of today’s modern Italian home tour. When your home is situated amidst rolling Tuscan hills like this bold house belonging to Milan-based architect Piero Lissoni is, and like my dream abode would be, you can really let the unrestricted jaw-dropping views do the talking.
A study in streamlined neutrals.
When interior designer Danielle Colding took on the project of the gorgeous Brooklyn duplex featured in this month’s home tour, she had a clean and sophisticated aesthetic in mind. Starting with a neutral palette heavy in white, black, grays, and brass accents, Colding strived to give the home a cohesive feel, all the while ensuring that each room maintained its own unique point of view. The end result to this approach is an elegantly eclectic and contemporary feast for the eyes. With bold prints and textures featured throughout, as well as some major wallpaper moments, I think you’ll agree that today’s luxurious and modern Brooklyn home tour makes a serious case for incorporating ornate and feminine details into an otherwise neutral design.
I’m torn over which feature I love most about this room – the textured black ceiling, the incredible light fixture or the moody floral wall.
