The end of the year is upon us and, I must confess, I couldn’t be more excited to wrap up 2017 and move into a bright, new 365 days. 2017 has rocked both me and my family to the core and I think we are all ready for a fresh start, symbolic as it may be. With that in mind, I tried to keep my December 2017 playlist upbeat and encouraging to help both you and myself get ready for the new year.

When I began my Music Mondays playlists in January, I quickly knew that my monthly musical shares were going to become one of my favorite features on Musings on Momentum. What I didn’t anticipate was the tremendous amount of support and encouragement that you would all respond to them with. For that reason, creating these playlists has turned into much more of a rewarding experience than I ever could have imagined and I am incredibly excited to continue the series in 2017.
My December playlist is full of the versatile, catchy, and upbeat tunes that have become the common thread throughout my mixes. I had envisioned a more mellow compilation prior to sitting down and creating this one but, true to form, it was the happier and energetic songs that spoke to me. I decided to go with that because hey, it has been a rough year for all of us. Let’s end it on a positive note! So here you have it, the final Music Mondays playlist of 2016…or is it?
This November playlist is a bit of a departure from the upbeat one that I shared with you last month. As the days grow shorter, I’m finding myself longing to stay in with my husband and be cozy at an increasing rate. This playlist was created with cold, dark, and snug days in mind and features moodier and, at times, bluesier, sounds from an eclectic mix of songs and artists. Most notably? The xx have made the list with a brand new single that I’m absolutely loving. It features the haunting melodies the group is known for paired with rather poignant lyrics about missing out on love.
I have been a big fan of The xx since I first saw them in 2013 at the Hollywood Bowl. My now-husband took me to that show relatively early on in our relationship and now listening to them always makes me reminisce. Their live shows are beautifully stripped down and raw. I highly recommend checking them out in concert if you haven’t already.
I hope that this November playlist helps get those of you that live in colder climates through the early days of winter!
