Strawberry Champagne Sorbet

September 6, 2016

In honor of my trip to Paris (that I’m sadly returning home from today), I’m sharing two French-influenced recipes this month. French gastronomy is as legendary as it is heavenly and no conversation about the genre can be had without the inclusion of champagne. Due to the fact Los Angeles is still experiencing temperatures in the high 70’s, I decided a classic champagne cocktail wouldn’t do and created today’s strawberry champagne sorbet recipe with the last of the year’s hot summer nights in mind.

Homemade Dog Treats

February 23, 2016

This week’s recipe is something just a little different in that it is geared towards the canine in your life.  If you happen to not have a canine in your life, please feel free to skip over this post.  I promise to return to regularly scheduled human-geared programming next week.

Homemade Dog Treats Graphic

I have been wanting to make homemade dog treats for Lola for the longest time and decided that her seventh birthday was the perfect time to give it a try!  There are a plethora of dog treat recipes available online to wade through, a mind boggling amount in fact.  I ultimately created my own recipe based on her dietary restrictions (she doesn’t eat too much grain), what human foods she enjoys the taste of and, admittedly, what I thought would also be acceptable for human consumption.  I was curious to see what they tasted like!

Based on Lola’s reaction I think I hit it out of the ball park with this recipe.  Not only did she adore them, they’re also healthy and actually make a decent human snack as well.

Raspberry Peach Bellinis – The Perfect New Year’s Drink

December 29, 2015

We only have two days left until New Year’s Eve!  Has this year FLOWN by for anyone else?  I don’t know if that feeling comes from the fact that I’ve had such an eventful year or whether it just comes with the territory of getting older.  Let’s just say it’s due to an eventful year.

I’m not really one for New Year’s resolutions, but I have always loved the concept that the clock striking midnight on January 1 symbolizes a fresh start.  It means that there are 365 pristine, beautiful days ahead to make the most of.  365 days worth of unique adventures to come.

What better way to celebrate that than by clinking together a couple of glasses of champagne when you finally roll out of bed in the morning?  These raspberry peach bellinis are the perfect New Year’s drink to keep the party going, all the while convincing yourself that you’re being healthy because you’re consuming fruit along with alcohol.

Strawberry Prosecco Granita

August 25, 2015

As we look ahead towards our upcoming move, we have started making plans to do a lot more entertaining at home.  As a result, I have been on the hunt for delicious, beautiful and easy(ish) recipes to offer future guests.  This strawberry prosecco granita will be a perfect dessert to serve friends on warm evenings at home.  After all, how could you go wrong when you’re combining prosecco and strawberries?!

Strawberry Prosecco Granita

The recipe itself was exceedingly easy to prepare.  The only trick is that you have to continue scraping the prosecco granita with a fork every hour or so as it freezes to break it up and give it that yummy crushed ice consistency.  Therefore this is definitely a dish you want to make on a day when you’ll be home for a few hours.  Perhaps on a day when you will be preparing for a dinner party?

Puggle Chef is eager to help

This delicious recipe made enough to cool us down and satisfy our taste buds for several days in a row.  I have already been getting requests to make it again so it seems that it will be a staple in our household.  We both highly recommend giving it a try.

Do you have any favorite recipes you serve when entertaining that you might share with me?  I’m doing my best to get some recipes and hostessing skills under my belt but I know I have a long way to go.  Tips and tricks are always appreciated!
